Book Description

In the 14th century, Allegreto, an assassin, attempts to regain his birthright by capturing Elena, the princess of Monteverde, and forcing her to become his wife. While Elena is attracted to Allegreto, she's also turned off by his career as an assassin.

Violence, especially during the scene where Allegreto forces Elena to marry him is powerful. Unlike in the prequel For My Lady's Heart, Laura Kinsale did not use Middle English dialogue in this book, because the characters are multi-lingual and would not often have been speaking in English.
