Book Description

Rachel Stone is just broke enough and just desperate enough to return to Salvation, North Carolina. She needs to take care of her son, and despite the fact that her dead husband, televangelist G. Dwayne Snopes stole millions of dollars and humiliated Rachel in Salvation, it's the only place she can go. She's hoping to find her dead husband's treasure in order to survive. She ends up at Gabe Bonner's drive-in, where he eventually gives her a job. He also reluctantly arranges a place for her to stay. Then she must face down her enemies.

Gabe is also the current occupant of Rachel's old home (he's housesitting for his brother, Cal from Nobody's Baby But Mine), leading her to deceive him as she searches for the treasure. Making things more difficult is the fact that Gabe is tortured by the deaths of his wife and child -- just looking at Rachel's son causes him deep pain. The interaction between Gabe and Edward (aka Chip) is heart-wrenching and inspiring.

Dream A Little Dream is a story of redemption and strength. While Phillips's ability to write funny is in full force, this book also has its shares of tear-jerking moments. There is a secondary romance featuring Gabe's brother Ethan, a pastor, and his secretary Kristy that is equally well-drawn.
