Book Description

Frederich offers to marry Caroline Holt though she is pregnant by another man. Believing her to be a loose woman like her sister, he accepts the bargain because he needs someone to take care of his young daughters. Caroline agrees because she needs security for her two young motherless nieces. Before they can fully come to terms with their feelings, the Civil War intervenes. When Frederich comes home to tell Caroline how he feels about her, he's captured as a deserter. Caroline, accepting that she loves Frederich, goes to find her wounded, near-dead husband and nurses him back to life.

An unusual romance -- moves beyond the genre.
