New York City's Delilah Gould is a dog trainer/dog walker because she is too shy to get along with people -- although that does not stop her from stepping in when she sees dog owners misbehaving. Stanley is a Newfoundland dog with just such an owner, Jason Mitchell, a new member of the New York Blades professional hockey team. Delilah reluctantly agrees to help Jason out, and he realizes that even though she is a "social cripple" she has stolen his heart.
