Book Description

Simon St. Bride is ready to return to England after uncovering evidence of wrong-doing in the Indian Affairs office. He is confident that his name and connections will bring thieves to justice. Before he can pack his bags, however, the perpetrator forces Simon into a duel that leads to the untimely death of Simon's friend -- and the death of Simon's friend leads to a marriage-of-convenience with the man's niece, Jane Otterburn. Jane is hiding a big secret -- she's not the Jane Otterburn everyone believes she is. Instead, she's the bastard daughter of the real Jane's father. When the real Jane died, Jancy (as she's known) takes Jane's place to ensure her acceptance in the scary world of Canada.

Beverley writes another rich, full romance. The relationship between Jancy and Simon is well-developed and believable. Beverley doesn't go into much depth about what Simon has been doing -- as this book is a continuation of her "Company of Rogues" series, that would be beneficial.
