Rachel Stone is just broke enough and just desperate enough to return to Salvation, North Carolina. She needs to take care of her son, and despite the fact that her dead husband, televangelist G. Dwayne Snopes stole millions of dollars and humiliated Rachel, it's the only place she can go. She's hoping to find her dead husband's treasure in order to survive. She ends up Gabe Bonner's drive-in, finds a job, and faces down her enemies.
