Book Description
Wealthy widow Maggie Pearson returns home to Wisconsin to open a bed-and-breakfast, hoping returning to her hometown will help erase the emotional pain she's feeling. Though her mother and college-age daughter disapprove, Maggie believes this is the best course for her. Also returned home is Maggie's first love, Eric Severson. Eric is now unhappily married, and he and Maggie drift into an illicit affair that creates big problems for both of them.
Readers have difficulties with the novel's depiction of adultery and Maggie's relationship with her daughter. However, as is typical in a LaVyrle Spencer novel, the story is not easy.
