Mill & Boon started the Historical Romance imprint in September 1977 under the name Masquerade.
Internationally titles from this imprint were released from September 1977 to May 1982 by Worldwide, at first as Harlequin Historical, but soon called Masquerade and Masquerade Historical like the Mill & Boon titles.
