The Emma Merritt Service Award is presented to honor the recipients entire body of service to the [[Romance Writers of America]]. Services include work done for local chapters as well as the National organization. Each recipient of this award can only be honored once. The award was previously known as the Golden Rose (1985 - 1989) and the National Service Award (1990 - 1995).
