Converse was the pseudonym of Adela Maritano, who was born in 1918. Maritano also co-wrote novels with her husband, Gale Maritano under the name Adela Gale, Kay Martin[1], and Leslie Seabrook. Maritano passed away in 2002[2].

According to her obituary, Maritano lived in Santa Cruz, Mexico, and Los Angeles. She published over 80 novels, several of which have been reissued by the Linford Romance Library from 1990 onward.
