After her brother inherits a title and estate to go along with it, Amelia Hathaway realizes that her responsibilities to her younger sisters and wayward brother have grown heavier. Retreating to their new country estate, the Hathaways find a crumbling mansion that is located next to the estate of the Earl of Westcliff (married to Lillian in It Happened One Autumn), but ill-health and lack of funds complicates the renovation of the house. Amelia also discovers that her congenial neighbors have several houseguests, including Cam Rohan. Extremely wealthy and successful in his career, Cam has tired of society’s petty restrictions and longs to return to his “uncivilized” Gypsy roots. When the delectable Amelia appeals to him for help, he intends to offer only friendship—-but intentions are no match for the desire that blindsides them both.
