Their antagonism was instant and mutual.
Simon Herries was dominating and arrogant, and he had readily jumped to the wrong conclusions about India. "You don't know me," she stated, "yet you accuse me of trying to steal someone else's husband!"
Evidence and appearance seemed to support his claim, and Simon had his own method of dealing with the problem.
At the time it proved an effective solution, but when his scheme backfired, India was left to face a future of heartbreak and unhappiness.
