Should he marry a stranger for money? The lawyer spoke persuasively to Alan. "By marrying this girl, you'll not only be doing a good deed, you'll be helping yourself. You'll be well paid, of course.... " Alan hesitated at the macabre proposition. A young woman lay dying. To inherit her godfather's money she had to marry at once, so that the money could go to her needy relatives upon her death. What did he have to lose? "Very well," Alan said at last.
