His lies hurt ... but the truth hurt more. Fran was devastated when Terry abruptly left Ireland. It had been so easy to fall in love with him--and so hard to understand why he'd suddenly disappeared without any explanation. Now the pain and joy at their unexpected reunion threatened to overwhelm her. "Why did you leave Dublin without telling me?" she demanded. "I love you", Terry began in an anguished voice, "but I cant tell you why I left. Still, I'd like you to consider me your friend". "Your friend?" she repeated, stunned. How could he love her--and be so willing to pretend otherwise?
