Angelina Bertoli and Sam Holland married ten years ago, but they never lived together as man and wife. After their elopment, her father forbid her from seeing Sam again, and Sam went West to Colorado to mine for gold. After her father's death, Angie decides to go find Sam and ask for a divorce. When she gets to Willow Creek, Colorado, she finds that Sam has fathered two daughters, his common-law-wife has died, and Sam is scraping together money for an operation for his daughter. Angie has little choice but to settle in and take care of things until they can get the money together to divorce.
