K.G. McAbee has had more than a dozen books and over seventy short stories published. She writes gothic, fantasy, pulp, steampunk, science fiction, horror, Regency suspense, YA and mystery.
Her work has won a variety of awards, including the Dorothy Parker Award of Excellence from Reviewers International, first place in the Writers’ Journal Fiction Contest, the Independent E-Book Award for Best Reference Book, an Eppie for Best Children’s Book, and the Dream Realm Award for Best YA Fantasy. She is also a Derringer Award finalist in mystery, and a Sapphire/Dream Realm/Eppie finalist in fantasy.
She and Cynthia D. Witherspoon co-write, as Cynthia Gael, the urban fantasy series THE BALEFIRE CHRONICLES. The first two books, BALEFIRE AND MOONSTONE and BALEFIRE AND LODESTONE, are available now; the last in the series, BALEFIRE AND BLOODSTONE, will be released in 2011. They are currently writing a steampunk series called BRASS & BONE.
