The Carrington family’s island is up for auction…

Now, that’s an invitation Ethan Hardesty just can’t refuse. This janitor’s son turned global entrepreneur has it all… All, that is, except a piece of the Carrington estate – the island that holds all his most pleasurable and painful memories…

Ethan doesn’t count on the beautiful Cate Carrington handling the transaction – providing him with the perfect opportunity to take her into the bargain. But toying with the woman who was once the girl he loved and lost soon turns from a game into an all-out obsession…

Excerpt

From the inside cover of Mills & Boon Modern Romance #1085, June 2011, UK Edition:

"Going once." Cate scanned the crowd, wishing the candles and tree lighting were brighter. "Twice." One more pause as she searched the dim periphery of the crowd. "Sold to the gentleman in the rear."

Murmurs rippled through the attendees, making it difficult for Cate's voice to be heard. "Sir," she said, leaning close to the microphone, "if you would be so kind as to come forward, I'd like to personally thank you for your support."

From the back of the room a man unfolded his considerable length and rose to his feet. She could only make out his silhouette's profile as he moved around the tables and toward the side aisle, but something...something indefinable in his movements...had her stomach quivering and the hairs on her arms standing on end.

But it couldn’t be.

Could it?
