Romance author Joanne Rock turned a passion for writing into a career when imaginary characters kept her awake at night, demanding she tell their stories. A three-time RITA nominee and author of over sixty romances in a variety of subgenres, she enjoys writing medieval historicals and sexy contemporaries along with the occasional romantic suspense. Joanne traces her passion for all things medieval to an early brush with John Keats' poem "The Eve of St. Agnes" and a rapt fascination with the Pre-Raphaelites' depiction of medieval themes. As a writer, she enjoys supplementing her more research-intensive trips to the Middle Ages with faster-paced contemporary stories sparked by the characters she meets in real life. Joanne teaches film and literature at Plattsburgh State (NY).

A former Golden Heart recipient, Joanne has won numerous awards for her stories. Her work has been reprinted in twenty-six countries and translated into nineteen languages. She writes for the Harlequin Blaze, Harlequin Temptation and Harlequin Historical lines. She has a Master's degree in English from the University of Louisville and enjoys critiquing and giving writing workshops with romantic suspense author Catherine Mann. Many of her articles on writing and romance are available online.

As an author for Harlequin Temptation, Joanne Rock published five novels.

Since her award-winning romance debut, Learning Curves, was published in 2002, author Joanne Rock has gone on to write over sixty more titles in under a decade. As she notes on her MySpace page, “A dear friend says I’m a Type A personality masquerading through life as a Type B and she probably has a point.” After graduating with an English advanced degree in 1994, Rock taught at the college level for a time and also worked in public relations before turning her hand to romance writing. “I write sexy contemporaries and medieval historicals, but I like to mix it up sometimes and add a dose of humor and/or suspense,” Rock commented. In her first book, art imitates life with a graduate student heroine pursuing an advanced degree at the University of Louisville.
