New American Library (NAL) is part of the Penguin publishing group. It was established in 1948 when the American arm of Penguin split away from the Britsh based Penguin. It began with Signet and Mentor as its leading imprints.

"Good reading for the millions" was the slogan of the founders of NAL more than fifty years ago. Offering a wide selection of fiction and nonfiction, NAL aims at reaching the largest possible number of readers, the true mass market. The NAL imprints that publish romance are:
