FRIGHTENED, MELINDA STARED AT THE SINISTER GUESTS IN THE OLD CHAPEL. WERE THEY HER TO PRAY TO GOD -- OR THE DEVIL? Melinda Marston accepted eagerly when Mrs. Jager, the regal mistress of Mystic Manor, invited her to stay at the great old house. Being there meant escaping the scorn of the villagers. Many believed Melinda guilty of the murder for which she had just been acquitted. At first she was happy. Suddenly a series of "accidents" plagued the eerie mansion. Once again her reputation was at stake. Determined to save her name -- and her sanity -- even at the risk of her life, Melinda traced the menace to the ruined chapel. It was supposed to be abandoned, but what she saw through the window convinced her that evil dwelt there. DARE SHE ENTER -- KNOWING SHE MIGHT NEVER COME OUT?
