She woke to terror from a dream of love. Beverly Gillian was still in a state of shock from the mystifying death of her parents when she wed handsome planter Alex Shelton. This commanding man offered Beverly the love, strength and safety she desperately longed for. But when Beverly came as Alex's bride to the great plantation of Tidemill, her hopes began to turn to horror. Suddenly Alex was not the man she thought she married, but a sullen, savage stranger, ruled by his tyrannical mother and subject to strange dark spells. Beverly shuddered now when he took her in his arms, and each night she fell asleep not knowing if she would wake alive. For Tidemill was no longer her gracious home but her grim prison -- and unless she discovered its evil secret, it would be her grave...
