Phyllis Matthewman
Biography
Phyllis Matthewman was a noted author of children's books, primarily "boarding school" storied, in the United Kingdom. Matthewman took up her writing career thanks to her husband Sidney's connections in the industry -- he was a literary agent after suffering a breakdown and his father ran the Swan Press. One of Matthewman's closest friends (and a client of her husband) was famous childrens' author Elinor Brent-Dyer. As did many Mills and Boon authors of the era, Matthewman frequently clashed with editorial direction in her books.
As an author for Harlequin Romance, she published two novels.
Phyllis Matthewman was born in 1896 and passed away in 1979.
