Harlequin American Romance Premier Edition was a separate imprint for single-title length books by established Harlequin American Romance writers. While American Romance titles averaged 250 pages, Harlequin American Romance Premier Edition books averaged 380.

Only five Premier Edition books were published. Impressively, two of them won the RITA® or Golden Medallion for best Contemporary Single Title of 1984 (After All These Years by Kathleen Gilles Seidel) and 1985 (Banish Misfortune by Anne Stuart), respectively.

The month before each Harlequin American Romance Premier Edition book was published, a book by the same author was published in the regular Harlequin American Romance line.
