Simply put, the Sell-Through percentage for a book is determined by dividing the number of copies sold by the number of copies printed. Bestselling authors can achieve percentages in the 80% and above range. First-time authors come in around 40%. Sell-Through can help determine how to position an author when her next book is released, or whether or not it's economically feasible to offer an author another contract.
