Jewels and gems -- often legendary or very valuable -- often play key roles in romance novels. Characters inherit valuable heirlooms or find themselves hot on the trail of missing diamonds. Sometimes these stories revolve around crown jewels, sometimes they are cursed emeralds and rubies. However they are involved in the story, jewels and gems add a touch of eternal glamor to a story.
