Deborah Hale is an award-winning Canadian writer of over 25 romance and fantasy novels. An avid genealogist, Hale spent ten years tracing her family tree to its roots in 18th century Britain. In the process, she uncovered several true romantic stories that inspired her to begin writing her first romance novel. After several years of rejections and revisions, her manuscript won the Long Historical®, Golden Heart in 1997. A few months later she sold the story to Harlequin Historical® and it was released in 1999 as My Lord Protector.

Since then Hale has written many more historical romance novels as well as novellas and on-line serials for Harlequin.com. When the company created a new fantasy fiction imprint, Luna Books®, in 2004, Hale was the first in-house author to be included in the program. She wrote two connected fantasy novels and an on-line serial for Luna. In 2011, she began writing a series of inspirational Regencies for Love Inspired Historical® as well as releasing her first self-published novel.

Deborah Hale has been nominated for a number of awards including Romance Writers of America’s RITA® award for Best First Book and Romantic Times® Reviewers Choice Awards for Best First Book and Best Regency Historical. Hale’s novels have been translated into over a dozen languages and sold in more than twenty countries around the world. A member of Romance Writers of America and Novelists Inc., Hale has written many articles and presented numerous workshops on the craft and business of commercial fiction writing.
