All Caps Titles

I see that Robini found a few pages that were all caps versions of titles that had correct pages already made. In my opinion, rather than offering a redirect (as Kay T did) deleting the articles outright. If there are no pages referring to them (and there shouldn't be) it become an "orphaned" page and leaving the redirect allows people to think that style is acceptable rather than trying to find the correctly formatted page. --DawnBurn 16:17, 14 September 2007 (PDT)

I did misspeak - it does appear that redirects *don't* stay on the "ophaned pages" page - unless you break the redirect by also categorizing, as I did. But I still agree with DawnBurn. I can probably live with a to/To type typo (heck, I've created enough of them myself), but at least in terms of the all-caps, I think that if we find a page that *doesn't* comply with the style manual - and we bother to clean up the whatlinkshere so as to orphan it - we might as well delete it. Othewise, it'll encourage people who are a little overattached to their caps button link to it again. And I *really* don't like to see those screaming at me. --Robini 16:41, 14 September 2007 (PDT)
Well, when you move an all caps title page to the correct capitalization it automatically makes a redirect. That is the natural way wiki works, and it does not seem to be any great harm. As Robini says, the redirect does not remain in the orphaned pages, but if you have gone to the trouble of fixing all of the links to the page there probably is nothing wrong with deleting it. Let's see if User:Romancewiki has a different opinion. (I am so excited that people are actually reading these new Help pages!!! what a dork I am). --Kay T 10:45, 15 September 2007 (PDT)
I'm glad you are excited and not 'OMG, I wish that troublesome Dawn would go away. She keeps bringing up stuff. Why can't she just be content to add books?'. And thanks for the clarification regarding the orphan pages. I think that I too prefer deleting (especially if the what links here is empty). --DawnBurn 12:16, 15 September 2007 (PDT)
If the pages do not stay orphaned, then I think you all have hit on a fine old solution. Way back in the days when I could actually keep up with all the new content (days that I am happy are gone!), I would fix links and delete.
Just in case anyone cares about the logic behind the capitalization schema, I quickly figured out that no two people have the same notions of what constitutes "proper" title case. Rather than taking a risk that person A and person B would cap different words in a title (and the wiki software is very case-sensitive), I figured this would be a good solution.--Romancewiki 09:03, 16 September 2007 (PDT)
