Publishing houses rarely release books under the corporate name. Each house consists of a series of imprints which specialize in a particular type of book or philosophical approach. Imprints may also have lines, which further categorize the types of books being published. Readers know that when they pick up an Avon Red title, they will be reading erotica, while a Silhouette Bombshell will feature a kick-ass heroine and lots of action.
