Meriol Trevor was one of the most prolific Roman Catholic women writers of the twentieth century. She worked in Italy after the war as a relief worker. She became a Catholic in 1950. She wrote biographies of John Henry Newman published in 1962, Pope John XXIII, Philip Neri, and James II, and also many novels and children's stories. An annual lecture series in her honour was begun in 2000 in her home town of Bath.
