Talk:Print On Demand

I take some objection to the 'often they are referred to as...' line. POD's are usually called Vanity Press only if a fee is charged of the author. And Vanity isn't necessarily bad (see: Lulu) if the authors know this isn't a company that will promote the book. There are POD publishers who do not charge a fee of the author and pay either royalties and/or advance that only print as demanded or 'print' PDFs.
This is also different than small publishers, who do small print runs (less than 1000) but still sell those. From Science Fiction, examples are Two Crane Press, Subterranean Press, and Wheatland Press. I suspect there are allegories in Romance. --DawnBurn 17:13, 8 November 2007 (PST)
