Book Description
The advertisement had said, simply: "Wanted: A girl for Gillgong", and Kerry Peyton knew just what it meant - a willing, adaptable girl who would be prepared to put up with the isolated job of running an outback station. All the way out there she had heard nothing but the praises of the Gillgong boss, Tad Brewster - "a good cove", "a decent feller", "best boss this side of the North Pole". But that wasn't at all the impreesion she got when she eventually met him. For a start, it seemed she was not at all the kind of girl he had in mind; he wanted an older, more capable person to act as governess to his motherless daughter. Then he seemed determined to beleive the worst of Kerry, condemning her for all sorts of crimes before he even had reason to believe her guilty. Altogether he was a thoroughly objectionable man, and Kerry didn't know why she stayed on at Gillgong. Was it just for the sake of the child?
