Series Description

The Larkville Legacy is an eight-book continuity series published in the Harlequin Romance line.

Welcome to the small, east Texas town of Larkville. The close knit ranching and farming community is filled with friendly people and families that go back for generations. It’s a great place to live and work. As you first arrive in town you will pass Gus’s Fillin’ Station. The proprietor, Gus Everett, pretty much knows everything that goes on in the town and isn’t afraid to share that information to anyone who’ll listen to his stories from the past or present! A little further up Main Street you’ll find the small Mom and Pop grocery store, Smart Mart. They aren’t a super store, but carry all the necessities. Then continue a few doors down to Hal’s Drug and Photo Shop. There you’ll get your prescriptions on time, and a chance to share your photos. Further down the street you’ll find the best home cooking around at Gracie May’s. During lunch time there’s standing room only at the homey storefront restaurant. The worn linoleum and cracked leather booths only add to the charm of the fifties diner. Toward the center of town opposite the Post Office is the Town Hall, the historical, two-story, stone building where the first female mayor, Johanna Hollis, holds office. Then comes a beautiful park where you’ll find the plaque honoring Larkville’s founder cattle baron, William Scout Calhoun dating back to the late nineteenth century. The founding Calhoun family is where our series begins… after the sad passing of the town’s most beloved patriarch, Clay Calhoun, owner of the Double Bar C Ranch. He and his wife, Sandra, had four children, Holt, Jessica, Nate and Megan…

The first story opens when Jess’s older brother, Holt, is called out of town, and she’s left in charge of the ranch. What she doesn’t expect is Clay’s prize stallion, Night Storm, getting out of the corral and running off. Everyone knew how much trouble her father had with the animal. In fact no one else could ride him! Since Clay’s death, there had been talk about putting the dangerous animal down.

Cowboy Johnny Jameson comes to the rescue when he finds Night Storm with his lead rope tangled in a fence. He has the animal calmed down before Jess and the ranch hands get there. Johnny comes with the reputation of being a horse whisperer. He’s been known to tame even the wildest beasts. But Jess believes the man is just a drifter, and thinks she should stay away. She learned her lesson with her young son’s father. Not another sweet talking cowboy for her. Yet can she risk her heart if Johnny packs up and leaves?

Then only to add to the complication Jess finds a thirty-year-old letter that can change everything in the Calhoun family. A shocking secret links the Calhouns to an elite family in New York, the Pattersons – Matt, Ellie, Alexandra and Charlotte. These two families will never be the same again!

There are eight authors in the series - Patricia Thayer, Nikki Logan, Marion Lennox, Myrna Mackenzie, Melissa McClone, Lucy Gordon, Soraya Lane and Susan Meier - who will take you on a journey with two families, the Calhouns and Pattersons. I hope you enjoy each one of the stories from Larkville, Texas – a small town with big secrets! Happy reading!
