The Paterson family were tired to death of being poor, and none of them more so than Muriel. Muriel, however, had one outstanding advantage - her looks; and her relatives managed to persuade her that she had a duty to cash in on them and, for all their sakes, find a rich husband. An invitation from an aunt to accompany her on a cruise provided Muriel with the opportunity; and as soon as she met him Muriel fixed on Andrew Burke as the "lucky man" for her.
