Gillian Ward wanted to 'get away from it all' - to find some peace and quiet, sort herself out - and incidentally, to try to get on with writing a book! So she took a job as headmistress at a tiny village school in the Yorkshire Dales. But she soon found that even in such a quiet, lonely spot she was no nearer finding the peace that she sought.
