Books numbered 3635 through 3682 were published as Harlequin Romance titles in 2001. In an unintentional echo of the titles published in the late 1960's, the publisher's list in the post-9/11 months reflected a more innocent, less violent world -- while this was more a result of the long lead time from acquisition to publication, it was also indicative the Harlequin Romance tendency to publish books that reinforced some critics' contention that the worlds created in category romance shied away from reality.

Two books in 2001, #3664 and #3674, featured two stories each by different authors.
