Penny Jordan is a pen name of Penelope Jones Halsall. She started to use that name in 1981 when Mills & Boon accepted her first book, Falcon's Prey. She has since written over 170 category romances for Mills & Bonn.

Penny Jordan's first contemporary romance, Love's Choices, was published by Mills & Boon in 1984. Later she wrote for the Worldwide and Mira imprint.

In 2008 the UK-based Avon imprint of HarperCollins launched Silk, the first part of a trilogy featuring a Cheshire family and spanning the years from 1929 to 2002. Almost 70 million copies of her novels have been sold worldwide.
