Biography

Anne Hampson turned to writing after graduating from college as part of a trial program for "older women"[1]. Degree in hand, she turned her attention to her number two goal, and sold her first novel, Eternal Summer, not long after she mailed her manuscript. She came up with the name Presents over lunch with Alan Boon (the Boon of Mills and Boon)[2], and was the launch author for the long-running series.

In May 1980, Hampson was the launch author for another romance series. Her novel Payment In Full was the first title published as a Silhouette Romance. Hampson's defection from the Mills&Boon and Harlequin families was both acrimonious and notice to Harlequin that their dominance of the romance market could be challenged.

Anne Hampson is the author of over 150 books, primarily for Mills and Boon, Harlequin, and Silhouette. She wrote 44 books for Harlequin Presents. Writing for the Harlequin Romance imprint, she published 30 novels. She published 28 novels for the Silhouette Romance. Her titles have been reprinted many times and some are considered rare. She is retired from writing, but has recently published a romance and crime novel.
