[[Deborah Hale]] is an award-winning Canadian writer of over 15 romance and fantasy novels. An avid genealogist, Hale spent ten yesr tracing her family tree to its roots in 18th century Britain. In the process, she uncovered several true romantic stories that inspired her to begin writing her first romance novel.  After several years of rejections and revisions, her manuscript won the Long Historical®,  Golden Heart in 1997.  A few months later she sold the story to Harlequin Historical® and it was released in 1999 as My Lord Protector.

Deborah Hale is an award-winning Canadian writer of over 25 romance and fantasy novels. An avid genealogist, Hale spent ten years tracing her family tree to its roots in 18th century Britain. In the process, she uncovered several true romantic stories that inspired her to begin writing her first romance novel. After several years of rejections and revisions, her manuscript won the Long Historical®, Golden Heart in 1997. Since then Hale has written many more historical romance novels as well as novellas and on-line serials for Harlequin.com. When the company created a new fantasy fiction imprint, Luna Books®, in 2004, Hale was the first in-house author to be included in the program.
