Agnes is a food columnist. She is buying a big, old Southern house and holding her god-daughter's wedding there in less than a week. While she is chatting on the phone to her friend, "Uncle" Joey, she is cooking raspberry sauce for chocolate cupcakes when a young man shows up in her kitchen with a gun and demands that she turn over her dog. Naturally Agnes hits him with her heavy frying pan. Joey says not to worry and he calls in his nephew, Shane, who is really a hitman for the US government. This is handy because over the next few days several people show up in Agnes's house with guns, a couple of people die (including the first young man who falls into the basement), the mob and the government are all involved in whatever is going on. And Shane is hot.
