About the Book
Kara Whittenbrook, a Connecticut heiress, travels to Florida to meet her birth family after learning she was adopted. Kara, who has discovered the truth about her past while going through her now-deceased parents' papers, learns that her birth family isn't what she expected: both parents are mentally challenged and working for rancher Ben Thocco.
Deborah Smith tells the story in alternating first person narration, allowing the reader to get into the heads of both Kara and Ben as they deal with major changes in their lives.
